The music styles of the tracks on this website are mainly polkas and waltzes, along with a few marches, schottisches, tangos, and rhumbas. Please note that not all of these styles are available at this time but will be added later as time permits.

The tracks are the full versions of the songs and not simply previews. If desired, the entire playlist and each track may be shared on various media, and each track may be downloaded in MP3 format free of charge.

If there is an English translation of a Czech or German song title, it is shown in parentheses immediately after the title. The meter of each song is also denoted by "[P]" for polka, "[W]" for waltz, "[M]" for march, "[S]" for schottische, "[T]" for tango, or "[R]" for rhumba.

I hope you enjoy the music! My intention is to perpetuate the Czech and German brass band musical art forms, and I plan to add more tracks in the future.

Thanks!

Steven Kutra

Welcome to The Sounds of Czech Music website!

This site contains playlists of Czech and German brass band instrumental music (i.e., no vocals). The term "brass band" is defined as a musical ensemble consisting of mainly brass instruments, a couple of woodwind instruments (clarinets), and a percussion section. The Czech word for brass band is dechovka, and the German word is blasmusik.
